Trickle Charge

A low-rate charge sufficient to compensate for self-discharge and maintain a battery in the fully-charged state. Most wind systems do NOT offer trickle charging, as they are basically boost or pulse type charging systems, available when the wind is around. Photovoltaic Systems are more adapted for trickle charging as they can under most conditions during the day offer some charge, meaning charge for about 12 hours a day, averaged yearly. Polar or extreme latitudes will not benefit well from solar trickle chargers during the no-sun periods reached for 2-4 months each year.
